When Horse Riding for either novices or 'old hands' there are few places in the world you can ride in an area as unspoiled or beautiful as the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, KZN. All our rides are accompanied by a lead and back up rider allowing us to split the group at times to be able to cater each ride to each individuals experience level.

Bhangazi Horse Safaris operates horseback riding trails and safaris from St Lucia, in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerly Greater St Lucia Wetland Park), situated in Zululand, Kwa- Zulu Natal, South Africa and is the only concessionaire for horse safaris in the park.
Transfers can be arranged to and from our stables from any accommodation in St Lucia.
BEACH RIDE
1.5 OR 2 HOURS
Our beach rides start at the Main Beach in St Lucia . From there we have kilometers of pristine beach to ride on with the waves of the Indian Ocean rolling in alongside.
We take the horses down to the waters edge and head either north towards First Rocks or south towards the St Lucia Estuary. From a leisurely stroll for beginners to an exhilarating canter for experienced riders, all levels of riding can be catered to. Please note: we prioritize rider safety at all times.
During the whale season (June-Nov) we often see humpback whales breaching out in the deeper water on their way to their breeding grounds in Mozambique. From November to February we search for the tracks of turtles who dug their nests above the high tide mark in the warm sand the night before.
The rest of the year we have to make do with dolphins playing in the surf or just the amazing views along the pristine beach, amongst the highest forested sand dunes in Africa.
Our beach rides are low tide dependent and can only take place 2 hours either side of low tide.
Children must be over 8 years old for a beach ride. Riders must be under 85 kg.

GAME RIDE
1 OR 2 HOURS
Our game rides begin at Iphiva camp, a 5-minute drive from the centre of St Lucia.
From here we ride into the Game Reserve on the southern end of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park where we ride alongside zebra, wildebeest, bushbuck, warthog, duiker, impala etc with occasional sightings of rhino, buffalo and our elusive leopard.
By being so unobtrusive on horseback, we are able to view game from just meters away without interrupting their normal behavior.
This is the perfect start for a novice, children or game viewing enthusiasts, as it is a gentle ride with lots of interesting things to see along the way.
Our game rides can take place at any time of day (within operating hours) and sightings are good day round.
Children must be over 6 years old for a game ride.
Riders must be under 85 kg.

BEACH & GAME COMBO | 2.5 HOURS
The beach and game combo ride is 2.5 hours of horseback adventure where you experience the best of the game reserve and the beach!
Children must be over 8 years old for a this ride. Riders must be under 85 kg.

By booking with Bhangazi Horse Safaris, guests agree to the following:

Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before the time of the ride. There is no refund for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the ride.

No refunds will be made if persons arrive late for rides. Rides will depart as close to the stated departure time as possible.

Minors are to be accompanied at all times by adults/custodians who will at all time accept responsibility for minors.

BHANGAZI HORSE SAFARIS reserves the right to cancel any ride should weather or other circumstances dictate. Refunds will be given in the case BHS cancels the ride. However in case of light rain rides will go ahead as scheduled.

Instructions by the guides have to be followed at all times.

BHANGAZI HORSE SAFARIS are not liable for any damages, loss or injuries that may be suffered by the guests whether occurring before, during or after the ride.

Wearing a riding helmet on rides is compulsory.

Minimum age is 6 years old for the game rides and 8 years old for the beach rides. Riders must be under 85kg.
